O governo brasileiro disse que Mercosul e União Europeia, no fechamento de acordo comercial, reiteraram seus compromissos em relação a acordos multilaterais ambientais, incluindo os da Convenção das Nações Unidas sobre a Mudança do Clima e o Acordo de Paris.

Na quinta-feira, dia 27, o presidente da França, Emmanuel Macron, havia ameaçado não assinar nenhum tratado comercial com o Brasil caso Bolsonaro deixasse do acordo climático de Paris. Nesta sexta, dia 28, o presidente Jair Bolsonaro se encontrou com o colega francês, reiterou o compromisso de permanecer no Acordo de Paris e convidou o francês para visitar a Amazônia.
